The Best Store for Everything You Never Needed

I love exploring this wonderful city of ours.  Especially after a trying day at work, a leisurely walk around town is usually just what I need to regroup and re-set.  On one of my latest strolls, I discovered this store:

As the title of this post suggests, this is one of those stores where you don't really need anything in it but you want it all.  As soon as you walk in the door, you are ushered along the one, count it- one aisle in the entire store.  It snakes around like a river forcing you to look at every last over-the-top cute item displayed on either side of you.  Think IKEA but with smaller items.  They have everything from stationary, storage and home decor and fitness items to umbrellas, kitchen utensils and electronics accessories- all at dirt cheap prices.  Most of it IS very cutesy and probably better for younger shoppers but there are plenty of items that by themselves are perfectly simple and modern.

Especially after reading Marie Kondo's Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up (more about that here), I've gotten pretty good at limiting the amount of impulse buys and on this last trip I left with only two pairs of sunnies, which is quite an accomplishment given all the goodies in this store.  Yes, Marie would have been proud.

But wait, it doesn't even stop there.  Not to be outdone by the merchandise, the packaging itself is just as charming.  My sunglasses, (each $4) came wrapped in this quirky paper and bag.  Like I've said before, I'm a sucker for packaging.

If you're in the need for some fun retail therapy or looking for cute, cheap, whimsical gifts definitely check this store out.  At the moment there is only one in Manhattan (with many more in Europe and Japan) but with over 500 stores in 25 countries, we may see more stateside in the near future.
